A man who is much braver than I handled an alligator gar with his bare hands in the Trinity River.

I come from a family that loves fishing. Both of my parents’ sides of the family were all about it.

I was way into it as well when I was younger. Me and my buddies used to go fishing several times a week, but for whatever reason I kind of fell off. Hell, it’s been four years since the last time I wet a line.

As I write this, I feel like that kind of needs to change. Maybe it’s time to dust off the old Zebco 33 and head out to the lake.

That said, when I finally get off my ass and go fishing, I will not be getting on the water (at least not intentionally). I’m not very fond of swimming among critters. I prefer to do that in a pool.

But my man in the video below doesn’t seem to have any problem jumping in the Trinity River to wrangle that big old alligator gar. In fact, he looks quite comfortable alongside one of the scariest-looking fishes on the planet.
