A huge dust devil near Anson, Texas completely engulfed a storm chaser’s vehicle over the weekend.

I’ve seen some very large dust devils in my life, but none as big as the one in the video below. I’m pretty sure I would have freaked out, thinking it might actually be a tornado.

You see, the thing about all of the dust devils I’ve witnessed is that every one of them developed on a bright, sunny day. So, I never confused them with tornadoes.

Fortunately for storm chaser Chad Casey, he has had plenty of training and experience to know the difference even on a day when severe weather is likely.

Granted, the sky wasn’t particularly menacing when the dust devil formed. But still, that’s a scary-looking dust devil. And fairly powerful as well.

I realize now that I’m an adult that it’s not recommended, but as a kid, I would walk or run through dust devils. Most of them were small and harmless.

But I would have run from that dust devil. That bad boy looks like it would hurt you.
