Texas Sam’s Club Has Some of the Longest Checkout Lines in the U.S.
As convenient and cost-effective as big box stores can be, they can be quite a headache, especially during their busiest times. Life is filled with trade-offs, and the trade-off for shopping at big box stores is that you just might find yourself waiting in the checkout lane for an extended period of time.
The Secret to Beating the Crowds
I’m going to take this opportunity to let you in on a little secret. I rarely ever shop at a big box store after about 1 pm. Most of the time, I hit them up early in the morning on weekdays. I’m not talking about super early either. I usually go around 9 am and am able to get in and out with ease.

That’s one of the advantages of starting work a little later in the morning. I’ve found big box stores, doctors’ and dentists’ offices, hair salons, and so on to be much less busy first thing in the morning. I’m admittedly an impatient person who hates waiting, so I go out of my way to set appointments as early as possible.
But there are just some places that have notoriously longer wait times than others, regardless of the time of day you visit. When it comes to big box stores, researchers at Solitaire Bliss found Sam’s Club to have the longest average wait times in the country. It’s not surprising considering how popular Sam’s is. In fact, wholesale clubs dominate the list of the longest lines.
The Busiest Sam’s Club in Texas
But one location in Texas stood out among the rest. The Sam’s Club located at 12349 I-35 in San Antonio has some of the longest checkout lines in the country, ranked 14th overall. So, if you’re headed there to shop, maybe grab a slice of pizza or a hot dog and a drink, and get comfortable.
