Wichita Falls, Texas Enters Stage 1 Drought Restrictions, Here’s What That Means For You
Lake levels have fallen in Wichita Falls and that means water restrictions have gone into place. Here's what you need to know.
October 21, 2024 Wichita Falls Enters Stage 1 Drought Watch
This morning the city of Wichita Falls announced that the combined lake levels of Lake Kickapoo and Lake Arrowhead have fallen below 65%. This means the city automatically goes into a Stage 1 drought watch which means the following water restrictions have been put into place.
Stage 1 Drought Water Restrictions
- Even numbered addresses can only water Monday and Wednesday
- Odd numbered addresses can only water Tuesday and Friday
- You're not allowed to water between the hours of 10AM and 7PM
If you use a hand held hose, soaker, or dripper irrigation system, it is exempt from the above restrictions. Taking a look ahead at our forecast, Wichita Falls is expected to get some rain once we enter November. As we all know, Wichita Falls weather is unpredictable so we will have to see if those rain chances stay in place over the next week or so.
Employees from the Water Distribution Department are now patrolling the City. During their patrol, if a customer is observed violating drought restrictions, an orange "WATER VIOLATION OBSERVED," notice will be left at the property with a box checked outlining the violation. If a violation is issued to a business, it will be issued to the manager on duty at the time of the violation or, after hours, the manager identified as the on-site manager at the location where the violation occurred.
