Very cool that our Wichita Falls waterpark was recently shown some love at symposium for water parks all around the world.

Apparently every year The World Waterpark Association has a trade show and symposium at Disney World. This is where folks that run water parks can check out the latest innovations for waterparks all in one place. It's also a way for these waterparks to be recognized for their achievements.

Turns out several awards are given out to waterparks for who have the best marketing campaigns through all sorts of media. Castaway Cove won the Wave Review Award for best email campaign for their brand new ride for 2025, Riptide Racer.

It was pretty cool to actually experience this ride before the general public this year. Castaway Cove was filming their commercial before the season opened and invited me out to the park to try out the ride. It's pretty cool how it actually times you down the ride, so no arguments between friends as to who actually finished first.

When Will Castaway Cove Reopen?

Sadly, we would all be freezing in the lazy river if Castaway Cove was open today. They have the rest of the year off and will be reopening in mid May of 2026 here in Wichita Falls. We will see what they have planned for 2026 once we get a little closer to that opening date.
