On Monday afternoon, a wildfire north of Stinnett, Texas erupted and has burned more than a million acres.

The Smokehouse Creek wildfire north of Amarillo is the second-largest wildfire in Texas history. It is also the second-largest wildfire in U.S. history.

There are at least five active wildfires throughout the state, with the Smokehouse Creek Fire being the largest by far. The second-largest active wildfire as of Thursday is the Windy Deuce Fire in Moore County, which has grown to an estimated 142,000 acres and is 30% contained, according to the Forest Service.

The Lubbock community is coming together to help the communities impacted by the fire.

Dr. Sameer Islam will accept donations at his office at 4505 82nd Street from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. The community is encouraged to donate water, eye drops, high-protein snacks, hygiene items, diapers, pet supplies, Chapstick and more.

Toot’n Totum will offer guests to round up your purchase to the nearest whole dollar. The additional amount collected will be donated to the Panhandle Disaster Relief Fund, dedicated to providing immediate and effective assistance to our neighbors and friends in need.

Hamilton Farms is asking for donations before they head out to Canadian with supplies. The Shallowater business is donating hay and water to help Panhandle ranchers take care of their livestock. You can drop off supplies at 6830 FM 1729, Shallowater, Tx.

The Lubbock National Bank is taking donations to support the Panhandle National Relief Fund. Information on how to donate can be found here.

The Shallowater Mustangs will be facing the Canadian Wildcats during their Wednesday night game, during which the booster club will be collecting donations. According to a social media post, the donations will support the Canadian community during this time of need. All donations will be given to the Canadian Fire Relief. They will be collecting donations in person and via Venmo (@shallowaterathleticboosters).

Fred’s Garage is located at 609 Avenue H and will accept water, Gatorade, non-perishable snacks, and toiletry donations.

The Weird Space is offering free tattoos while accepting donations for those affected by the fires. They are asking for bags of clothes, essentials, or nonperishables for a free small tattoo. You can contact them at 806-200-2414 or visit them at 3225 50th Street B1, Lubbock, TX.

Front Door Decor that is south of Muleshoe will assist those in need assist with livestock including fostering livestock.

Lone Star Cowboy Church posted donations of water, Gatorade, toiletries, non-perishable foods, dog and cat food, clothes, blankets and more that can be dropped off at 1309 East FM 1585.

The Brand Tattoo Studio said it would not accept money donations, but it would accept gently used items such as clothes, toiletries, diapers and blankets at its location at 4412 50th Street on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Signature Stag has created a store drop-off location to collect supplies for those in the Panhandle. The business has partnered with Fred’s Garage in Shallowater to make supply runs to communities in need. They specifically ask for Gatorade and water packs, toiletries and non-perishable food items. Signature Stag in located at 7320 Milwaukee, STE 700.

Lubbock Elks Lodge will be a donation spot for items such as baby wipes, baby powder, socks, water, electrolytes, beef jerky, prepackaged snacks, cooling towels and more at its location at 3409 Milwaukee Avenue.
Lubbock Truck Sales is gathering supplies and accepting donations to transport on March 2. According to a social media post, it is prepared to take an 18-wheeler if enough supplies are collected, like clothes, toiletries, food/water/drinks, baby formula, farm supplies, hoses, five-gallon buckets, animal feed (sow feed, pig feed, hay). Donations can be dropped off at 1801 E. Slaton Highway.

Motor Worx is at 124 East Broadway Avenue and will serve as a donation location Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Axiom Health & Wellness will take donations until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon at its location at 4620 71st Street.

Outdoorsman will accept donations until Friday for bottled water, Gatorade, Chapstick and eye drops.

Head Hunters Smoke Shop will accept donations until Thursday evening at all seven of its locations.
