Guilty?! Here Is The #1 Law Broken In Texas Without You Even Knowing

I know I have and it’s been plenty of times that I’ve broken the law, and not even know that I was doing something illegal. It’s one thing to rob a bank, steal from a store, or get into a bar fight.

When you think about committing a crime you think of someone whose adjective wants to do something illegal and knows exactly what the consequences would be if they were to get caught. I couldn’t imagine getting serious jail time or even a fine for a crime that I honestly didn’t mean to commit, but it happens all the time in the great state of Texas. This particular crime happens so often that there’s not an exact number of how many times the crime is committed.

If I’m being honest, I committed this crime today and really could’ve gotten in trouble for it. Jaywalking or jail walking is something Texans do so often that they are not even aware that this is a crime. I can see how individuals could break the law so quickly with jaywalking. Jaywalking is when an individual crosses the road by either walking or running over a road or street without any regard for traffic. Avoiding crosswalks and sidewalks is a sign of a jaywalker and even though not many people have gone to jail for jaywalking you usually find yourself with a fine of anywhere between a hundred and a thousand dollars. But keep in mind enough tickets can put you in a place where you can receive jail time for this crime. The next time you’re crossing the street and thinking
you’re doing a great job because you’re looking both ways, keep in mind if you don’t cross the proper traffic stripe, you’re breaking the law in Texas. It might sound stupid, but it’s the law.
