FBI’s 2024 Most Dangerous Cities In Texas

When it comes to where we live, we never want it to be considered one of the most dangerous places to live. Here is the FBI's 2024 list of most dangerous cities and one of them is not that far from us. The information is based on crime statistics from January  2023 through September 2023. Violent crimes are any crimes that include murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

10. Waco

Waco has a population of 140,911

• 555 violent crimes
• 2,815 property crimes.
• 3.94violent crimes per 1000 persons

9. Mesquite

Mesquite, located in the DFW area, has a population of 147,226

• 578 violent crimes
• 4,122 property crimes
• 3.99 violent crimes per 1000 persons

8. Pasadena

Pasadena, a suburb of Houston, has a population of 145,954

• 680 violent crimes
• 2,996 property crimes
• 4.66 violent crimes per 1000 persons

7. Dallas

Dallas has a population of 1,286,121

• 6,836 violent crimes
• 38,422 property crimes
• 5.32 violent crimes per 1000 persons

6. Amarillo

Amarillo has a population of 201,572

• 1,088 violent crimes
• 4,726 property crimes
• 5.40 violent crimes per 1000 persons

5. San Antonio

San Antonio has a population of 1,465,608

• 7,941 violent crimes
• 59,238 property crimes
• 5.42 violent crimes per 1000 persons

4. Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi has a population of 317,694

• 7,383 property crimes
• 6.40 violent crimes per 1000 persons

3. Lubbock

Lubbock, about 120 miles north of us, has a population of 264,142

2. Houston

Houston has a population of 2,276,533

1. Beaumont

Beaumont has a population of 110,898

• 10.69 violent crimes per 1000 persons

So where does Midland or Odessa fall on this list? Neither city made the top 10, thank goodness but we weren't far off. Both Midland and Odessa did fall in the top 20.

Midland comes in at number 16.
