Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott learned of the death of pop and rock icon Prince while actually giving an interview on Thursday (April 21), and the shaken singer shared a fond story in memory of the superstar.

"One of my most vivid memories with his music was when we were on tour ... it was the Own the Night Tour with Darius Rucker, and he closed his set every night with 'Purple Rain,'" she recalls in the video above, which was shot just after she was informed of his passing.

Scott is visibly emotional as she recounts, "One of the last shows of the tour, Charles [Kelley] went out dressed as Prince. So obviously, Prince being much smaller in stature than Charles — he's 6' 6" — it just is one of the most light-hearted, sweet, funny, hilarious moments."

Lady A are such big fans of Prince, in fact, that they gave him a nod during their performance at the 2011 CMT Awards, after winning Group Video of the Year. After performing their then-current hit, "Just a Kiss," the group segued unexpectedly into Prince's "Kiss," to the delight of the crowd.

"There's no one comparable to him," Scott muses. "He's his own. He's a symbol, for crying out loud. That's a really, really sad loss to hear about ... but thankfully, we have a lot of really incredible music that we will never have to not have."
