Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus are American Music Awards winners, as of Sunday night (Nov. 24). The duo's collaboration on "Old Town Road" picked up the prize for Favorite Song - Rap at the show.

Cyrus could not be there to accept the award and enjoy the evening, so Lil Nas X took the stage solo to give the duo's acceptance speech. In a head-turning lime green neon suit (complete with shoulder pads and leopard print gloves), his initial reaction when reaching the mic was: "Finally!"

"You know first I want to say Megan [the presenter] is looking amazing and everybody. I want to say Taylor [Swift] killed it out here," Nas told the audience. "Sorry, you know, that Billy couldn't be here tonight — I love you, Billy."

The rapper took his big moment onstage to encourage others who might feel that their peak in life has already happened, saying: "I don't want to get too deep, but I want to say, whether you're like fifteen or thirty, fifty-five or whatever, if you feel like your moment has passed to know that it's [still] waiting for you."

Lil Nas X was also nominated for New Artist of the Year, as well as Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Song - Pop/Rock for "Old Town Road" remix alongside Cyrus.
