Luke Bryan Crashes a (Wedding) Party — For Real!
The producers of American Idol -- who were in Georgia recently to scout out talent for the revived show's upcoming season -- just couldn't let new judge Luke Bryan leave his home state without crashing a party. Literally.
"We just did a day of auditions, and we found out that, like, two minutes away there's a real-life wedding happening," Bryan related, in a video posted to American Idol's Facebook page. "We heard they are big fans of mine, so we're gonna go have some fun and crash a wedding!"
That he did, sneaking up on the couple -- who were enjoying their reception at the Charles Morris Center in downtown Savannah -- right as they were getting down on the dance floor to his own hit "Crash My Party."
The wedding guests all screamed with delight when Bryan entered, strolling up to the happy newlyweds and giving groom Austin Lipski a high-five. He then popped some champagne, gave a toast, and joined everyone to sing along with "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)."
“The American Idol producers called the venue manager and asked it it would be ok for Luke to crash our wedding reception,” explained bride McKenna Neidlinger Lipski to People. “The venue manager had to contact my mom to make sure we would be ok with it.”
Mom said it would be fine, and the rest goes down in the couple's wedding album for generations to come.
Bryan, as well as fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, will make their debut on the show's premiere airing on ABC in 2018.
