Mark Hamill Taking Over Voice of Chucky in ‘Child’s Play’ Reboot
Mark Hamill was revealed as the new voice of the killer doll Chucky in the upcoming 'Child's Play' reboot.
As reported by Deadline, the announcement of Hamill's casting was made during Orion’s pane presentation Saturday at WonderCon in a pre-recorded message by Hamill himself:
The reboot of 'Child's Play' has been in the works for several years, and it was known that regular Chucky voice Brad Douriff would not be reprising the role, instead voicing the character in the upcoming SyFy series that will follow the continuity of the original films. Hamill has made a name for himself as a highly respected voice actor, being the beloved voice of DC's animated Joker, among others in a multi-decade voice-over career.
The reboot of 'Child's Play' is meant to be a contemporary retelling of the killer doll story, apparently abandoning the voodoo origin of the original films and modernizing the doll to be artificial intelligence.
