Meghan Linsey and her longtime boyfriend Tyler Cain are engaged!

The former Steel Magnolia singer and Cain shared the news exclusively with People on Wednesday (June 19), revealing that Cain proposed in a very unique way while they were filming their new video on Monday (June 17).

The couple, who announced they have formed a new duo called Meg and Tyler on the red carpet at the CMT Awards on June 5, were in Homer, Alaska, to shoot their new video when Cain surprised Linsey.

“We drove out to Homer, which is one of our favorite places and headed down to the beach at Land’s End,” she recounts to People. “I thought we were just walking down to check out the location, but when we walked up, the videographer [Noah Douglass] was already flying the drone around us. I assumed he was just testing everything out, but it did seem a little strange. That’s when Tyler got down on one knee, and that’s when I knew. I’m not easy to surprise, but he got me!”

Meg and Tyler will release the video for their new song, "Nowhere With You," soon.

Linsey is best known in country circles for her stint in Steel Magnolia, a duo that shot to success after winning Season 2 of Can You Duet. They scored a hit with "Keep on Loving You" in 2009, but struggled to follow up on that success. They split in 2013, two years after Linsey's duo partner and then-boyfriend, Joshua Scott Jones, entered rehab. Linsey subsequently placed second on Season 8 of The Voice in 2015. Her solo musical efforts have focused more on pop music. Cain is a singer-songwriter and producer who has worked with Big & Rich, Darius Rucker, Billy Currington, Ashley Monroe and more, in addition to his work with Linsey.

31-year-old Linsey and 34-year-old Cain met at a recording studio in Nashville seven years ago, not long after she ended her relationship with Jones, and they already live together and work together. "The whole marriage thing has just never felt like a huge pressure for us," Linsey says. "We’re really happy, and that has been our focus.”

Cain worked with a jeweler to create a very special ring, opting for a diamond halo design with a 2-carat antique cushion peach morganite center stone. The couple have not yet finalized wedding plans, but Linsey says they want to keep their ceremony small and simple, calling their style "very eclectic and DIY."

"I’d love to do something with a New Orleans flare to it. That’s where I’m from, and Tyler loves New Orleans too. It’s just who we are," she says. "I want to keep it small, and I don’t think either of us wants to do a big bridal party or anything like that. I definitely want to keep it low stress.”
