Midland and Jon Pardi made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live together this week to perform their collaborative single "Longneck Way to Go."

The song details a broken heart, sitting at a bar drinking away the memory of an old flame and realizing it's going to take quite a few longnecks to make that happen.

"I got a long, longneck way to go / Well, these heartbreak beers / They go down fast / But this getting over you / Sure going down slow / And it's closing in on closing time / And I ain't even close / I've got a long, longneck way to go," they sing in the chorus.

Pardi and Midland were able to turn Kimmel's stage into their own honky-tonk, with amber lighting and a smoky haze hovering over the stage. Pardi and Midland lead singer Mark Wystrach traded lyrics before harmonizing with Midland's Jess Carson and Cameron Duddy on the chorus.

The guys also put the spotlight on their instruments, with two long interludes featuring both an electric and steel guitar. At one point, Wystrach threw his guitar on and strummed a few chords.

During one of those interludes, all four men marched in sync across the stage in a line — a nod to their music video for the song.

"Longneck Way to Go" is the latest single off Midland's album The Last Resort: Greetings From, which was released in May of this year. Pardi is the only featured artist on the project, and it appears the band has taken a liking to him.

Midland shared a behind-the-scenes video from their rehearsals for the show that shows the trio goofing around with Pardi before getting down to business.

"Might have to make Midland a foursome ..." the caption reads.

As for the rest of the year, Midland have dates scheduled through Dec. 18, which includes a trek through Australia. There's also a Texas date on the calendar in February 2023.

Pardi wrapped up his Ain't Always the Cowboy Tour on Oct. 1, but has some one-off dates through Nov. 6 and a couple dotted on the calendar for 2023. He and his wife Summer also just announced they are expecting their first child together.
