Miranda Lambert Gives Emotional Tribute to Christina Grimmie

At her concert in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday (June 11), Miranda Lambert acknowledged the tragedy that took former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie's life. Lambert dedicated her emotional song "The House That Built Me" to the late singer.

"An artist named Christina Grimmie was shot when she was signing autographs for her fans in Florida," Lambert said to preface the song. "I want us to sing this up to her, because she went home tonight."

Clearly choked up, the country star then went into the heartfelt song and had the entire audience singing along. Lambert also shared her prayers for Grimmie's family on Instagram in a caption to one of Grimmie's songs, "With Love."

"I'm so sad to hear about Christina Grimmie," she writes. "An amazing talent. While doing what the Lord put her on this earth to do, her life was taken. Praying for peace and healing for her family. #ripchristina"

Grimmie was a finalist on the sixth season of The Voice. She placed third after competing on Team Adam. The 22-year-old singer was signing autographs near a merchandise table after a concert at the Plaza Live in Orlando, Fla., on Friday evening (June 10) when a man approached the table with two guns. He opened opened fire, mortally wounding the singer, before he turned the gun on himself after Grimmie’s brother tackled him. The gunman — later identified as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl — died at the scene.
