Remembering Brandon Jenkins, RIP Red Dirt Legend

It was four years ago today that the world lost singer, songwriter and Red Dirt Legend Brandon Jenkins. He passed away on March 2, 2018 in Nashville at the age of 48.

Jenkins had been admitted to a Nashville hospital on Feb. 21, 2018 for a heart procedure, but there were complications, and he remained hospitalized until his tragic and untimely death. RIP Red Dirt Legend.

He was known as one of the scene's best "good guys," and one of our best songwriters. Bleu Edmondson enjoyed a hit with his song "Finger on the Trigger." Jenkins' song "My Feet Don't Touch The Ground" was recorded by Stoney LaRue and it was named a Top 10 song on the Dallas Observer's list of "The 50 Best Red Dirt Texas Country Songs." Stoney LaRue also famously recorded "Down in Flames," a song the two co-wrote, it was included on The Red Dirt Album.

Jenkins released a total of 18 albums in his career, his final being Tail Lights in a Boomtown, which was released just one month before his death. Fittingly, his final radio release, "Be The Revival," rose to No. 1 in Texas just weeks after he passed away. Brandon Jenkins' music can still be purchased on iTunes.
