Police in Kingwood, a neighborhood on neighborhood in Houston, Texas, are trying to figure out who used a powerful rescue tool, known as the “Jaws of Life,” to break into an ATM inside a convenience store. The strange crime happened at a store on the 5700 block of West Lake Houston Parkway. The Jaws of Life is normally used by firefighters and rescue crews to save people who are trapped in cars after serious accidents. It can cut through metal and pry open car doors, which is why it surprised everyone when someone used it to try and steal cash from an ATM.

Robber Breaks into ATM with Jaws of Life Tool

Detectives say the suspects broke into the store and then went after the ATM using the tool. It’s not clear how much money they got away with, or if they even managed to get any at all. What makes the case especially interesting is that using a tool like this suggests the people behind the robbery put some thought into it and may have had access to special equipment that isn’t easy to find.
