Man, parenting is just different now. There is no way in hell my parents would have sat in a line as long as the one in the video at the bottom of this article. Not when there is a perfectly good school bus that is provided by the district, which their tax dollars have partially paid for.

No, sir, my brother and I were bus riders. You can always tell the kids whose parents dropped them off and picked them up every day. Y'all are soft. You know nothing of the real world. We were kindergartners sharing a ride with 15-year-olds.

Your last experience before heading into school was a warm hug followed by an "I love you, champ," from one of your adoring parents. My last experience before walking into class was having my underwear pulled over my head by a 10th grader while learning a new cuss word that I was far to young to understand the meaning of.

Long Texas school pickup line will make you choose the bus

Bus rides always seemed like the wild west. And the further you got to the back of the bus, the more treacherous it got. When I was in middle school, the buses would pick us up first after school, then drive to the high school campus to get the older kids. That meant that you could ride on any bus to the high school, then switch to your bus to go home.

Because of this, if someone wanted to fight, we would all pile onto bus number 52, because our science teacher, who was blind and deaf on her right side, drove that bus. I'm not sure why this was allowed, but for us, it meant that we could have a full-on fight without the bus driver noticing. Safe, right?

On second thought, drive your babies to school and pick them up. I'm realizing in real time as I'm writing this article that I might have some childhood trauma from the bus.🏃‍♀️🚌
