Video: Semi Driver Crashes Avoiding Massive Texas Traffic Accident
The video at the bottom of this article is a couple of years old, but if I haven't ever seen it, I feel like there are a lot of other people who have not seen it as well.
It started with two cars crashing on Highway 84 in Lubbock County. While police were checking out the scene, a huge semi-truck slid out of control in the thick fog, jackknifing and stopping in the middle of the road. Other cars ended up crashing into it too.
A photographer named Caleb Holder was filming the scene when another semi-truck tried to avoid a red SUV that suddenly switched lanes. The truck lost control, tipped over, and slid into a ditch, hitting several cars along the way. Holder said it was super scary seeing the headlights coming through the fog, and police had to jump out of the way to stay safe.
One of the trucks hit a Texas state trooper and trapped another driver in their pickup. Luckily, firefighters were able to get the driver out, and both the trooper and driver were taken to the hospital. They’re hurt but expected to be okay.
In total, there were five crashes involving four big semi-trucks and four smaller cars, all because of the dense fog, which made it really hard to see. Drivers in the area were told to slow down to stay safe.
