Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow has revealed that a brain tumor is what has been causing recent memory lapses. The star and longtime friend to country music recently told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she visited a doctor after becoming frustrated with her dulled memory.

“In November, I found out I have a brain tumor,” Crow says. “But it’s benign, so I don’t have to worry about it. But it gives me a fit.”

Earlier this year, the singer forgot the words to her hit song ‘Soak Up the Sun’ during a show in Florida. However, she admits she’s always had trouble remembering lyrics. During a 1990s show in Las Vegas, Crow couldn’t remember ‘A Change Would Do You Good.’

“Not only could I not remember the first line, I couldn’t remember the first line to any of the verses,” Crow said. “I started laughing so hard! And I looked over at my guitar player, and he’s bent over like he’s gonna just start peeing.”

In 2006, Crow underwent treatment for breast cancer. She now lives with her two adopted children near Nashville. Just last May it was reported she was working on a country album with the help of Brad Paisley. That project has not yet been released, but she tells the Vegas paper that she could have new music out by October.

Crow’s biggest country hit was with Kid Rock on ‘Picture,’ but she’s also released a solo single and been part of numerous collaborations honoring great figures in country music.
