A new reality TV musical competition coming to NBC in the spring will focus on songwriters. Songland will feature songwriters vying to create a hit song, with a famous artist recording the winning effort.

The judging panel for Songland will include Nashville songwriter and producer Shane McAnally alongside OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and Ester Dean.

Kelsea Ballerini and Old Dominion are among the artists set to take part, along with Charlie Puth, John Legend, Jonas Brothers, Meghan Trainor, Will.I.Am, Leona Lewis, Macklemore, Aloe Blacc and more.

"Every artist is looking for one thing, that next great song," Legend says in the preview above.

Songland will give fans an inside look at the songwriting process, according to E!. Each episode will result in one songwriting winner, with the prize being that one of the rotating cast of artists will record their song.

Songland is from executive producer Audrey Morrissey, director Ivan Dudynsky, Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart, Chad Hines and Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Josh Gummersall and Tedder will serve as producers. The concept of the show was devised by Stewart, Morrissey and Dudynsky.

"We're going to pull back the curtains and we're going to show you how music is made," Tedder says in the video preview.

Songland is set to premiere on Tuesday, May 28, on NBC.
