Country stars often sing about broken hearts, but for some, those lyrics might hit a little bit close to home.

Chesnutt has been off the road since experiencing a heart-related medical emergency last month.

It's the second major health event for Chesnutt in 10 months.

Who says country artists have to stay in-genre all the time? Not us.

It was so out of character for the country star.

In a note posted to social media, he admits he’s been “struggling with a battle that I’ve fought to overcome for many years on my own.”

Chesnutt's hits include "Brother Jukebox," "I Just Wanted You to Know" and "It's a Little Too Late."

He's going to resume touring after a difficult period.

His wife Tracie also tested positive.

The surgery will keep him off the road this summer and early fall.
