Texas Chicken Crowned World’s Oldest at 14 Years
In Little Elm, Texas, a small chicken named Pearl just made history. She’s 14 years and 69 days old, and Guinness World Records officially crowned her the oldest living chicken on the planet. You can check out a video of Pearl by scrolling to the bottom of this article.
Pearl was born back in 2011 when her owner, Sonya Hull, hatched her in a small incubator at home. For a chicken of her breed, called an Easter-Egger, that’s pretty wild. Most only live around five to eight years, so Pearl's feat of making it to the ripe old age of twelve is pretty special.

These days, Pearl isn’t running around much. She mostly hangs out in the laundry room because walking is harder for her now. But she still makes her way into the living room when the TV is on. Apparently, she’s a fan. She’s also surprisingly chill with the family pets, including an older cat and a new kitten.

She took over the title of oldest living chicken after the previous record holder, a chicken named Peanut from Illinois, passed away last December at the age of 21 years. Peanut still holds the all-time age record, but for now, Pearl is the reigning queen of living chickens.
