I had a buddy do this exact same maneuver on his graduation day. He was a super athletic guy who just figured he would nail it once it was time to pull it off. My buddy was wrong, just like this rascal.

The Attempt

When you watch the video below, you see that he gives up on the flip halfway through and tries to rotate. That is an indication that this was his first try. He did a fairly good job of moving his body in a way that he did not land on his head, which is good.

Is he OK?

Neither a member of the staff nor another student moved very fast to help the guy, so I'm assuming they could tell he wasn't hurt from close up. A couple of girls in the audience were even giggling a little bit. He seemed to have a great attitude about the whole thing as he jumped up and put on a big smile for his picture.
