Throwback Thursday: Dixie Chicks-Cowboy Take Me Away [VIDEO]
It's hard to believe that over 15 years have passed since Y2K was scaring everyone, but it's true. 15 years ago, we had all survived the passage into the new millennium and were still trying to figure out how to deal with all our old checks that already had 19 printed in the date line.
On this week, 15 years ago, the Dixie Chicks had the number 1 song in the country for a second week with 'Cowboy Take Me Away.'
It would still be another 2 years before the Dixie Chicks would be blacklisted from country music for their statements about George Bush and the Iraq War.
This song ended up spending a total of 3 weeks at #1 and even crossed over to reach #27 on the mainstream charts. It would end the year as the #4 country song overall for 2000.
