Why Texas Music Was Awesome in 2013

Seems like most everyone is bashing country music these days, and there's reason to. I heard some legitimate reasons Why Country Music was Awful in 2013. And while calling people out for singing crappy songs serves a purpose, and may even serve to correct the ship -- you gotta admit, it's hard to argue how bad a song is, when people download it like crack.

I prefer positive reinforcement. Here are 10 (of many) Reasons Why Texas Music was Awesome in 2013.

The Damn Quails "Me and the Whiskey," anything Uncle Lucius, Jon Wolfe "The Only Time You Call," the Turnpike Troubadours library, Casey Donahew "Whiskey Baby," was another great song. 2013 saw both Wade Bowen and Will Hoge release great songs There's a newer guy, Sam Riggs, he's got some songs you should be listening to, too. There's so much!

So, the next time someone's bitchin' about country music, remind 'em there is great music out there. It's not always on the radio, sometimes it does get lost in the shuffle and you gotta find it, but it's there. And -- contrary to cool belief, there were even some awesome songs outta Nashville.
