City of Wichita Falls Announces Fourth of July Trash Schedule
Just a heads-up about something important happening in Wichita Falls.
On Friday, July 4th, the city is closing all its offices to honor Independence Day. That means some regular stuff, like trash pickup, will be a little different for the week. I know it's a slight inconvenience, but sanitation workers deserve the day off to be with their families as well. Half or us have to bring our trash cans out to the curb one day early, and the rest of us don't even have to change anything, so be cool!
Updated Trash Pickup Schedule:
Monday, June 30: No changes — regular pickup.
Tuesday, July 1: Regular pickup as scheduled.
Thursday, July 3: Pickup will take place one day earlier on Wednesday, July 2.
Friday, July 4: Pickup will happen on Thursday, July 3 instead.
The City of Wichita Falls also announced that curbside organics recycling will not be collected on Wednesday.
Please plan accordingly!
Also, if your family uses the curbside organic recycling service, that won’t happen on Wednesday this week. Plus, both the Transfer Station and the Landfill will be closed on Friday. So, don’t plan on dropping off any big items that day.

The city recommends putting your trash out the night before your new pickup day, just to be safe. If you're not sure what day your trash gets picked up, you can check online or contact the city’s sanitation department at (940) 761-7977.
They’ll be happy to help.
These small logistical shifts are part of a broader city effort to ensure essential services continue to run smoothly during the holiday, while still allowing municipal workers to observe the Fourth with their own families.
