Little Big Town have had incredible success over the past few years, from multiple chart-topping singles to scooping up accolades left and right. But in the midst of these accomplishments have been some personal tragedies that have brought them closer together as a group.

In a new interview with Sunday Today, the quartet open up about how the death of Jimi Westbrook's sister, Joyce, from cancer in 2015 has impacted them and how it inspired the song “Don’t Die Young, Don’t Get Old" off their current album The Breaker, which Westbrook calls a "special song" to him.

"There’s a heart of that song that I feel like I see the path my family walked together with my sister," he says.

Tragedy previously struck the group in 2005 when Kimberly Schlapman's first husband, Steven Roads, died after suffering a heart attack. He also served as the band's lawyer and they thought his death meant the end of their journey.

"We do take care of each other," Westbrook's wife and fellow LBT member Karen Fairchild emphasizes.

"It’s the things that you walk through usually only with close family, but I think that's how we all became family and it makes us stronger,” Westbrook adds. "I wouldn't want to walk through any of this without these people."

In addition to all things music, the foursome have also just announced the launch of a new product line called Boondocks, which includes a plethora of items that have personal resonance for the band members, whether it be a coffee mug or guitar strap. The goodies are available via Ryman.com or Opry Entertainment stories in Nashville.
