14-Year-Old’s Invention Eliminates Your Car’s Blind Spot
Blind spots. Every car has them. But maybe not for long.
Even though she's not old enough to drive yet, 14-year-old Alaina Gassler came up with the idea of putting a camera on top of the car, then projecting the image in real time onto the A-pillar inside the car. As you can see, it virtually eliminates the blind spot.
She says she used a special reflective material on the pillar to help make the image more visible.
This was done as part of her 8th grade science project and earned Alaina the Grand Prize and a cool $25,000. Several vehicle manufacturing companies are also looking into the idea. We think this kid has a really bright future.
