Area songwriter Jason Tompkins is headed to a national songwriting competition this weekend. The Fletcher, Oklahoma native and his singing partner Nan Massie, (both pictured above), will perform in Commerce, Texas Saturday night. Their journey started in February when Jason entered the local level of the competition hosted by Jerry's Music Emporium in Lawton and presented nationally by The Songwriters.biz. He performed "Lack Of The Righteous", a song he wrote about personal struggles and faith. Read more about that night here.

From there he went into a pool of 30 winners from across the country. Online voting put Jason in the top 12, earning him a spot in the national competition Saturday night. See a list of the 12 finalists here.
