Seriously, is there anything this guy won't attempt?

You know him as the host of The Bobby Bones Show weekday mornings here on 102.3 The Bull. You probably watched him do The Floss on Dancing With The Stars. You may have even seen him as the host of Opry on Circle.

Now he's taking on a new challenge (actually 16 new challenges) in Breaking Bobby Bones on National Geographic.

This is a brand new 16 episode series that kicks off Monday night (05.31.21) and finds Bobby attempting to learn new skills or abilities. The question is, will he succeed? Or will the challenge break him.

Bobby admitted to Country Insider that some of the challenges were more difficult than others. The first episode pushes Bobby to get past his fear of heights and help clean the underside of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Skywalk is a 70-foot long glass walkway that hangs 4,000 feet above the raging Colorado River. Bobby said, “It was so bad I almost cried, not because I was sad or happy but because my body was just, like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this.’”

(Spoiler alert: I don't know how he did with his fear of heights but he does survive because he has another 15 episodes left to air.)

In another episode Bobby pushes through the pain while learning how to do tree maintenance in the forest by climbing trees with spiked boots and a rope. By the time he got to the top he couldn't move any more and required medical rescue.

The purpose of the show isn't to prove what Bobby can (or can't) do, but to inspire people to move outside their comfort zone and see what they can actually accomplish and to recognize those accomplishments in others.

Bobby said, “The premise, when I came up with the show idea, wasn’t for me to go out and do crazy stuff, it was to find the underdogs of America that aren’t really rewarded for the work they’re doing or the adversity they’ve pushed through.”

While none of these episodes seem to have broken Bobby he does say there's one thing that might, his fiancee, Caitlin Parker. She's relentlessly trying to get Bobby to slow the back-to-back pace of his activities down just a little bit. She may even accomplish that. Bobby said, "Because I'm being taught — aka forced — I'm adding downtime now and I'm having weekends off, starting this weekend."

Each Breaking Bobby Bones episode is 30 minutes long and there will be two new episodes per week over the next eight weeks on National Geographic. The first episode airs Monday night, May 31st. I'm sure we'll hear all about it Tuesday morning on The Bobby Bones Show here on 102.3 The Bull.
