Watch: Dallas Robbery Suspects Caught by Cop on Horseback
The cop in the video at the bottom of this article must have felt like he was a sheriff in the old days of the wild west with the way he hunted down a trio of aggravated robbery suspects on horseback in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.
Just after midnight on August 23, Dallas police got a call about a robbery in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. The crime happened on Elm Street, and officers jumped into action right away.

When police found the suspects, they told them to stop. Two of them listened, but the third tried to run. He didn’t get very far. Officers chased him with some on foot, and one on horseback. That rascal was quickly caught. The only difference between this chase and one from olden times was the use of tasers instead of lassos.
All three suspects had guns, and one of those guns had already been reported stolen. Police also recovered about $40,000 worth of stolen property.

The fact that a mounted officer was involved might sound unusual, but in Dallas, it’s not. The city still uses officers on horseback, especially in crowded nightlife areas like Deep Ellum. Normally, they’re there to keep order and interact with the community, but in this case, the horse patrol helped shut down a chase before it could get dangerous.
No one was hurt during the incident, and thanks to quick teamwork, police were able to recover the stolen items and take the suspects into custody.
