Dolly Parton Brings Special Gospel Collaboration to the 2019 CMA Awards
Dolly Parton teamed with For King & Country and Zach Williams for a very special standout moment during the 2019 CMA Awards. The country legend drew on her deep-rooted faith for a gospel medley of "God Only Knows," "There Was Jesus" and 'Faith" on Wednesday night (Nov. 13).
Parton hit the stage at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for the special performance, introduced by Brandi Carlile.
"I want to say that the brilliant and beautiful woman about to perform is a blessing to country music, and a hero to me," said Carlile. "And now she's bringing her extraordinary songs to life in a new Netflix series called Heartstrings that starts on Nov. 22. Tonight, she's sharing uplifting songs of faith joined by King & Country and Zach Williams, a legend we can all believe in."
These Are the Top 5 Moments of the 2019 CMA Awards:
Parton first sang with her collaborators on For King & Country's "God Only Knows," before moving into her duet with Williams, "There Was Jesus." As the crowd sang and chanted along, she then launched into her collaboration with Swedish dance duo Galantis along with Dutch rapper Mr. Probz on the remake of the 1987 hit song “Faith."
John Hiatt originally wrote and recorded "Faith" as a song called "Have a Little Faith in Me" for his 1987 album Bring the Family, and it's been covered numerous other times.
Parton not only made a special appearance at the 2019 CMA Awards, but she also served as a special co-host during the awards ceremony. Parton and Reba McEntire joined Carrie Underwood, who returned to co-host the CMA Awards for the twelfth time in 2019.
