Back to School Roundup Interview

Eric: Oh, right. I am sitting here today with… you have to tell me your name again, because now I'm looking at it.

Seonaid: Seonaid Acevedo.

Eric: Okay, Seonaid. And I'm not going to look at it again because I want to spell it out phonetically in front of me. Well, what? What are we here to talk about today, Seonaid?

Seonaid: So we are here to talk today about the Wichita Falls ISD Foundation project, back to school and our roundup is Saturday, August the 3rd.

Eric: Okay. And what does that entail?

Seonaid: So essentially, any child in Wichita Falls ISD or City View ISD who qualifies for free or reduced lunch can come to project back to school roundup, get a free backpack, get free supplies and while they're there, visit with vendors and get some immunizations.

Eric: Oh, awesome. Yeah. What kind of vendors they going to have out there?

Seonaid: Oh, we've got everything. sometimes the radio stations and TV stations participate. There's always giveaways, local organizations that kids can sign up for, such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, all of that type of thing.

Eric: Okay. And then what kind of immunizations? I can never say that word. You know what I mean? What kind of what kind of can they get?

Seonaid: They can get shots from the county health department and depending on what the child's age is, the health department knows what they should get and will set them up with those immunizations.

Eric: Oh, man, you're way better at me. All right. What else do we need to know about this, Seonaid? I'm so excited I got your name.

Seonaid: Well, first of all, the children do not need to be present if the adult wants to come by themselves. But they do need to bring proof that the child qualifies, for free or reduced lunch. kids like to come out. They like to pick out their own backpack it’s really exciting for them.

Eric: Yeah. Okay. well, that sounds like a good deal. Is there anything we're missing here?

Seonaid: Sure. So we're going to be out there Saturday, August 3rd, from 9 a.m. to noon. we know people love to get out there early, but it's going to be hot, so we want people to be safe. There will be plenty of backpacks till noon even though we'll see up to 6000 people that day. Oh, we know how to move a line through the system. So we've been doing this for about 15 years now, and, it's going to be a great time, so come on out if you qualify.

Eric: Okay. Awesome. Thank you so much. Saturday, August 3rd and, it sounds like a good time. What?

Seonaid: I forgot to say that we're going to be at the MPEC. Oh, okay. We need to tell them where it is.

Eric: We sure do. I thought I got the date wrong when you made the gesture over there. So the multi-purpose event center. I'm assuming probably in the Ray Clymer building but nobody knows what those are except me.

Seonaid: No go in the doors by the flags.

Eric: Yeah. There you go. It's a much better way to say that. All right. Thank you so much, Shona and everybody. Yeah. If you qualify. Get out there, get you some supplies. Make it a little easier on yourself.

Seonaid: Thanks a lot.

Eric: Ok, thank you, Seonaid!
