It's extremely hot right now. And nothing is worse than being drunk and dehydrated. But the internet has found a way to keep day drinkers buzzed and hydrated - gatorwine.

You may be thinking, "This sounds like something people drink in the backwoods of Louisiana." But no, gatorwine is a combination of cheap wine and Gatorade that common folk, chefs and sommeliers are TikTok taste testing.

What is gatorwine?

This viral cocktail/sangria/insanity is simply a cheap red wine mixed with light blue "Glacier Freeze" Gatorade - other flavors do not make the best tasting gatorwine, just FYI.

The concoction recently started trending on TikTok. People who wanted to try the viral drink have made videos of them making it at home. Even professional chefs and sommeliers with a hefty TikTok following have made the drink.

Where did gatorwine come from?

We're not sure of the exact origins of gatorwine, but the drink started going viral after a recent YouTube video from Binging with Babish where the host tried his followers' strangest recipes that were submitted in.

One of the recipes, sent in by the name "GOATSNOWHERE," was gatorwine, which consisted of light blue Gatorade and cheap wine, specifically under $12.

The video, as of August 20, has garnered over 1.3 million views. Soon after, the YouTube channel posted a clip of Babish trying gatorwine, to which he gave a glowing review. Babish said it's not like anything he tasted, and that the more he drank it the more he liked it

Since then, gatorwine started trending and people were giving it a try. After several sips and no visceral reaction, people are claiming gatorwine is actually really good. So if you're looking for a buzz without dehydration, maybe give gatorwine a try.
