Today I discovered Tyler Oliveira, who has a very popular investigation series on YouTube. Basically he travels the world to see how bad certain cities are. Here are just a few examples from his YouTube page.

Yeah, this guy loves to investigate. Recently McCallen, Texas was named the fattest city in America. So Tyler decided to visit and see why the residents of McCallen are so overweight.

First Stop in McCallen, Fast Food

The first thing Tyler does is get some breakfast. Now we all know fast food isn't the healthiest option in the morning. Let's be honest, these restaurants are in pretty much every major Texas city. So why is McCallen so overweight? Well let's take a trip to the mall.

The Mall Has Scooters to Rent, So You Don't Have to Walk

An easy way to burn some calories is to just walk around town. If you like to do your walking indoors, the mall is the perfect place to go. Well in McCallen for almost FORTY DOLLARS you can rent a scooter so you never have to put one foot in front of the other. According to locals, these things are very popular in the mall.

Mexican Restaurants and Bakeries the True Culprit?

According to one of the locals that Tyler interviews, the majority of restaurants in town start with a heaping pile of lard. He also says it feels like a panderia (Mexican bakery) is on every corner. We also learn here that 40% of the town is diabetic or pre-diabetic.

Tyler Interviews Someone from the "My 600 Pound Life TV Show"

This part doesn't have to do with McCallen, Texas because this gentleman lives in Florida. Tyler wanted to show someone who lived an obese lifestyle. Mark though appears to be turning his life around nowadays and hopefully he keeps putting that weight off. In conclusion, not really sure why McCallen has so many obese people. I will say this, those mall scooters definitely ain't helping.
