As much as I love football, tailgating is just about as much fun as watching the game itself.

And when it comes to tailgating, everyone has their own traditions. For some people, it’s all about simply kicking back and having a few beers before the game. Others go all-out and set up a tent and a smoker and/or grill and do it up big time.

But one thing all tailgates have in common is the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol.

While people tailgate at all different kinds of sporting events, it’s most closely associated with football. And everyone knows that football is king in the Lone Star State.

Another thing we’re big on around here is getting together and having a few beers with friends. And there’s nothing like going to a football game to put you in a partying mood. So, one would think that Texans are pretty good at the whole tailgate thing. And they would be right.

The tailgating experts at cookoutnews.com used trends software to analyze Twitter data over the last 30 days to determine which fanbases tweeted the most about tailgating and Longhorns fans ranked 2nd in the country behind LSU Tigers fans.

I’ll admit that I’m a little disappointed that Longhorns fans didn’t top the list, but I’ll take it. It’s nice to see the fans on The Forty Acres being recognized for their love of beer, barbecue, and football.
