Today was the big day for Texas UIL and the new reclassifications for 2026-2028. Here is how things change for Wichita Falls.

It has been a strange few months for us in Wichita Falls when it comes to the Texas UIL. According to their original plan, Wichita Falls Legacy and Memorial would no longer play in the same division. The Texas UIL changed their enrollment numbers for the different divisions and good news for us in Wichita Falls. Legacy and Memorial would continue on together. Here is what the division looks like through 2028

Conference 5A Division 2 (District 2)

  • Abilene Cooper
  • Abilene Wylie
  • Amarillo Palo Duro
  • Lubbock Cooper
  • Lubbock Coronado
  • Wichita Falls Legacy
  • Wichita Falls Memorial

Changes to Wichita Falls District in 2026?

The only difference in our district for this coming year is the replacement of the Plainview Bulldogs. They have moved down to 4A Division 1. The new team in our district this year will be the Lubbock Coronado Mustangs. They went 1-9 last season and our Legacy Leopards actually beat them in week one last year 28-22.

2026-2028 Texas UIL Enrollment Numbers

  • 6A: 2,215 and above | 251 schools
  • 5A: 1,305 - 2,214 | 250 schools
  • 4A: 550 - 1,304 | 224 schools
