2018 American Idol winner Maddie Poppe gave her debut performance of her new single "Little Things" on Good Morning America on Wednesday (Feb. 27).

Clad in a floral print blue outfit and playing an acoustic guitar, Poppe was beaming as she delivered the sprightly pop-rock track, whose insistent beat prompted the studio audience to clap along as she performed.

"Little Things" was inspired by Poppe's romance with fellow American Idol alumni Caleb Lee Hutchinson. The two met while filming the show, and “I couldn’t believe how much every word rings true to my relationship and how it feels when we’re apart," she said in a press release announcing the single.

"There's a million little things / That keep me remindin' me of you / You're the air that I am breathing / You're in everything I do / And I try to concentrate / But I can't escape the truth / There's a million little things / That keep reminding me of you," she sings in the chorus.

Idol judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were on hand to give an interview about the upcoming season, and they gave Poppe's performance a standing ovation. Season 17 of American Idol begins on Sunday (March 3) on ABC at 8PM EST.

Poppe announced in February that she will release her debut full-length studio album on May 17.

"The process on this album has been a lot of fun," Poppe shares of the new music. "Hollywood Records has been such a blessing to work with — they have given me the reins to make the album that I want to make, and have supported my decisions. I'm really staying true to myself on this album and I’ve gotten to work with a really great team."
