For Miranda Lambert, CMA Awards Performances Are Best Forgotten

Miranda Lambert admits she will be nervous before her 2019 CMA Awards performance, and after it's over, she'd rather not re-live it.

The Female Vocalist of the Year nominee is set to perform her single "It All Comes Out In the Wash" on Wednesday night (Nov. 13).

Talking to Taste of Country, Lambert said that she never goes back to watch televised performances. "Unless somebody sends it to me or it pops up on socials, I don't see it," she says. "I'm my own worst critic, so it's almost healthier if I let that moment be in the past."

There was a recent exception, however — one she's glad she made. Lambert, whose Wildcard album dropped earlier this month, re-lived some career moments in an interview, including the iconic performance of "Kerosene" at the 2005 CMA Awards.

"It gave me this surge," she says of the replay. "I flashed right back there and that absolute butterfly feeling that I haven't had in a long time. I get nervous every single time on live TV, but that was like the moment where I knew I could either make a name for myself or be forgotten forever, so it had to be powerful. When I saw that I was so happy I got to re-live that for a second."

Lambert is a seven-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee. This year she's mostly excited to see old friends, and she's excited to see the all-female hosting trio.

"I'm excited to see Dolly and Reba and Carrie because I think that's gonna be awesome," she says.

Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood are the hosts of the 2019 CMA Awards, which air at 8PM ET on ABC.
