MLK Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast Tickets on Sale Now
Before we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 20, Wichita Falls is kicking things off with the annual MLK Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast.
This event, which has been a community tradition for 36 years, honors Dr. King’s legacy while raising money to help local students go to college.
The breakfast is happening on Saturday, January 18, at 7 a.m. at the MPEC. Ms. Rhonda L. Dawson, a retired Air Force Major and attorney, will give the keynote speech. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased online ahead of time—there won’t be any tickets sold at the door, so don’t wait too long!
Parade at Noon
After the breakfast, the MLK Parade will take place at noon. This year’s parade almost didn’t happen because of some confusion with city rules, but everything has been sorted out, and it’s officially on. Organizers are still looking for more people to join in with floats, bands, and vehicles. If you or your group wants to participate, now’s the time to sign up.
Make a Difference
The MLK Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast is made possible by the Wichita Falls Area Community Fund and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. It’s helped support countless students over the years, and this year is no different. Scholarship applications are open now, and the deadline to apply is February 1, 2025. For details on how to apply, check out the Wichita Falls Area Community Fund’s website.
Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Dr. King’s dream while making a difference.
