Texans may need to dig out their winter coats again as a powerful cold front is set to sweep across the state this weekend. Forecasters are warning that the incoming system could bring an unseasonably sharp drop in temperatures, pushing lows into the 30s and 40s as far south as San Antonio and potentially even beyond.

We almost always get one last freeze for the year at some point in April, so is it going to happen this weekend? Maybe.

Texas braces for monster cold front this weekend

The Texas Panhandle, often the first to feel the brunt of such cold snaps, could see snow as the front moves through. While the idea of a late freeze in April isn’t unheard of in the region, the rapid temperature shift could take many residents by surprise, particularly those who have already settled into the mild warmth of fall.
