If you have never seen an armadillo in person, let me tell you, they are some of the cutest little things you will ever lay your looking balls(eyes) on. I used to have a little armadillo guy that lived on my property and I would always hear him rustling around underneath leaves and what not.

Little did I know I could have befriended the tiny rascal and taught him how to race! Apparentlyy, at fairs all across Texas, this is a thing, and I am here for it. You can check out a video of one such race at the end of this article.

Texas Fairs Bring Food Music and Armadillo Racing Fun

Normally when attending a fiar here in Texas, you’ll smell barbecue and funnel cakes before you even walk through the gates. Local bands play everything from country to rock, and families wander around checking out carnival games, livestock shows, and craft booths.

But one thing always gets people talking is armadillo racing. Yep, real armadillos on tiny racetracks. It’s weird, hilarious, and completely Texan. Crowds cheer as the little guys waddle their way to the finish line, while announcers hype up the excitement like it’s the Super Bowl.
