I'm not laughing AT you Caelie, I'm laughing WITH you because this totally sounds like something I might do.

No one has ever accused me of having a green thumb, I have been known to kill those itty-bitty little cactus plants in the past.

The news is making the rounds of one Caelie Wilkes who thought she'd found the perfect houseplant. It was a small succulent and she'd fallen in love with its shape, its color, just everything about it. After two years - TWO YEARS - of diligent care and watering she decided it was time to upgrade its plastic container to a more decorative vase. That's when she made a devastating discovery.

I go to pull it from the original plastic container it was purchased with to learn this plant was FAKE. I put so much love into this plant! I washed it’s leaves. Tried my hardest to keep it looking it’s best, and it’s completely plastic!

To her credit, some of the artificial plants are remarkably realistic. I remember several years ago when I was house sitting for a friend one of my tasks was to water the plants. Some were real, some were not, I didn't want anything to die so I watered them all. Mock me if you like, but nothing died under my watchful care.

You can read Caelie's story and see photos of this beautiful plastic plant on her Facebook page. Thanks for sharing your story with us Caelie! We're all laughing with you. And kudos to whoever made that lovely little plant of yours.
