Studios have been trying to replicate the success of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The LEGO Movie, with films based on Play-Doh, Minecraft, Playmobil and more in the works. And while we’ve yet to see exactly how these attempts will pan out, we can add another one to the pile as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have signed on to produce a movie based on the Where’s Waldo? series of books.

Deadline reports that creative partners Rogen and Goldberg will oversee a film based on the books, although exactly how they plan to adapt the incredibly simple concept has yet to be revealed. First published in 1987, Martin Hanford’s series of children’s books challenged kids (and their bored parents) to spot the titular character in crowds of people in various time periods and settings. Wearing his trademark striped shirt, glasses and hat, Waldo could sometimes be a pain in the ass to find thanks to all those annoying red herrings.

But there’s slightly more to Waldo than just that — he is a tourist and world-traveler, prone to getting lost in crowds due to his banal appearance and basic wardrobe. Surely there’s a film in there somewhere, right? Or maybe it will just be 90 minutes of kids yelling at the screen.

Rogen and Goldberg recently worked on the animated film Sausage Party, which will have a work-in-progress screening at SXSW later this week. The duo are also behind AMC’s upcoming Preacher series, based on the graphic novels by Garth Ennis.
