If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a police officer, now’s your chance to find out.

The WFPD’s Community Services Section is now accepting applications for the Fall 2017 Citizen Police Academy. The free course is offered two times a year and is open to anyone 18 and older.

The class will start around the second week of September and meets on Monday nights from 6:00-9:00pm.

Over the course of 11-13 weeks, students will endure an obstacle course, fire automatic weapons, witness drug dogs in action, get behind the wheel of a police cruiser and learn to make split-second decisions during “shoot/don’t shoot” scenarios.

Students will receive instruction from officers from the Motors Unit, SWAT, SCUBA, Identify Theft, Crime Scene Investigation, Traffic, Patrol and more.

If interested, submit your application here.

If you have any questions, contact Officer Jeff Hughes at jeff.hughes@wfpd.net.
