They don’t call it Highway 420 for nothing.

On Thursday, February 1st at approximately 1:40pm, officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department stopped a 2017 white Ford Fiesta for going 75 mph in a 60 mph zone in the 3100 block of US-287. Police identified the driver as 54-year-old Jeffery Carrethers.

Officers initiated a free air sniff of the vehicle using WFPD K-9 Turko. Turko gave a positive alert on the rear quarter of the vehicle, giving officers probable cause to conduct a search.

A blue suitcase was found in the trunk of the vehicle. The suitcase contained 18 individual vacuum sealed packages containing a leafy green substance that was later identified as hydroponic marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana inside the vehicle was 13.35 pounds.

Carrethers admitted to buying the marijuana in Denver and was transporting it to Dallas.

He was arrested and transported to the Wichita County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 5 pounds under 50 pounds.
