Texas Heat Catches Lawn On Fire. Or Was it Arson?
Texas Heat Scorches Lawn. Or was it something more nefarious?
Have you ever witnessed grass on someone's lawn just spontaneously combust?
The video at the bottom of this article appears to show just that, and it's pretty scary. I've never been one to water my lawn in the middle of the summer. It's just too hard to keep up with it when every day here in August in Texas is over one hundred degrees. Plus, we're in a drought, so screw your lawn.
Is That Actually What Happened?
As the sun relentlessly pounded the Earth, temperatures soared well into the triple digits. In a classic case of "everything's bigger in Texas," the intense. Or, is something else afoot?
Arson?
At first, you can just see some puffs of smoke, which I'm assuming is the moment the grass ignites. Then, a tiny little patch starts to burn. People in the comments for the video have expressed that these could be fireworks that someone threw, but from where?
The Fire Spreads
The patch slowly grows bigger and bigger.
You can also make out a second fire by the tree in the back. That's kind of suspicious. Are both spots igniting at once? This firecracker theory might not be that far-fetched after all. She posted a second video, slowed down, and zoomed in.

Lurkers
The plot thickens! The homeowner has a third video up, where she explains there is a blind spot in her camera coverage, and two young boys had been lurking around.

Check out the video for yourself below. The last few seconds show how much it actually burned. Pretty much the whole side is burnt to a crisp.
